Cagliari Keeper Marchetti In Milan To Discuss Transfer – Report

The Rossoblu keeper and his agent are in Milan at present, in order to discuss his future.

It was reported yesterday that Milan were lining up the Cagliari stopper Federico Marchetti as a short term replacement for the injured Christian Abbiati.

These reports have been confirmed with the news that the player and his agent are currently in Milan, where they will discuss a potential contract with the club.

“It is a great satisfaction to see Marchetti already being tracked by great clubs,” his agent William Gabetti stated in an interview with Calciomercato.com.

“When he was in the youth squad of Torino, he did not have confidence in himself, and consequently he was loaned out by the club on several occasions.

“He currently has a contract with Cagliari for another three years, so it is up to the Sardinian club to decide his future.

“At this time however, we will negotiate with Milan to see exactly what they are after, and take it from there.

“Marchetti seems the only real objective for their club in goal, as Abbiati is injured, Dida is 35 years old, whilst Kalac is 36,” the agent concluded.

The Italian keeper has been in outstanding touch for the Sardinians this term, as his consistent performances have resulted in the club posing a serious threat for European qualification next season.
